Rehabilitation Programs And Physiotherapy Singapore
Rehabilitation programs and physiotherapy following surgeries are highly recommended (e.g. total knee replacement, hip replacement, back and neck surgery, hand and/or finger surgery etc), as it will shorten the recovery period as well as hasten up strength in the surrounding muscles and soft tissues. This rehabilitation can and should be done before and after the surgery. After a surgery, our rehabilitation programs and physiotherapy treatments are almost always requested by the surgeons as we help to provide pain relief, as well as reduce the amount stiffness and tightness; helping the patient to increase mobility, build a sense of safe confidence to return to independence and an active lifestyle. Physiotherapy programs are often highly recommended after orthopedic surgeries such as arthroscopy or keyhole surgery on the back and knees, or after joint replacement surgeries (e.g. total knee replacement and total hip replacement etc). We will prescribe you specific exercises that target specific muscles to gain strength and stamina in supporting muscles and joints, so you can get back to walking around and using your limbs as quick and safely as possible. Whenever necessary, we also will teach you how to use mobility aids that we think might be necessary for you for the time being (such as crutches, walking frames, quad sticks etc); on top of basic mobility exercises such as getting up and about, moving along the wards, going up and down steps and stairs. Most of the time, patients continue receiving physiotherapy until they have reached optimal mobility and independence. We work closely with orthopedic surgeons in Singapore, and will be more than happy to refer you to them whenever appropriate. How can we help you?
