Ask The Physiotherapy Business Coach
When we first started out our physiotherapy business in private practice, it was so scary, there was so much to think about, to plan, to consider...on top of our regular clinical practice and therapy sessions. You may be a physiotherapist, or a hand therapist, or an occupational therapist. You are qualified academically, and in practice. You're likely to enjoy your work, and enjoy seeing the positive responses and results that your practice has brought, and will be bringing to the lives of more people to come. Regardless, I am positive that, just like us, you also want to see your physiotherapy (or other allied health) practice grow and thrive, attracting more and more clients that benefit from your services, and for your business to grow to the next level. It is not true when people say that enjoy your work, be good at what you do, and the money will come. It is half the story only. In fact, it was very tough, and sometimes, distasteful and difficult when I had to market our physiotherapy practice as a business (I felt that it was not ethical, not good, I just didn't feel good) - all I wanted and thought was, "If I treated my patients well, and they got better, they would tell others, and it'd all be ok, and the physical therapy business will grow on its own." I was quite far from the truth, as I quickly found out that it takes a learning curve and understanding to really get and grow your practice to where you want it to be, on your terms. From a $65 company, we've grown our physiotherapy company to a sweet six figure business per annum, and still poised to grow, as we served more and more clients who got better, and told others. Interestingly, I have more and more people coming up to me to ask me how to start a business, how to grow their practice and business etc. I'm not saying I'm the best, nor that I am the man-to-go-to, but what I know is that I've come some way, and I've got something to share that may help you. Here, I will take questions from fellow therapists and allied health professionals, questions about taking bookings and scheduling, managing clients, choosing your fee structure, setting time, increasing your word of mouth and so on. I will answer your questions to the best of my abilities, and oftentimes invite answers from other therapists. So, you can both ask questions and give answers to help others. =) How do you start? There is a box below - start by asking a question. When you post a question, it'd take a couple of days for the system to put it on the page, so do bear with the wait, OR it will not be answered if the question has been raised before and answered already, so be sure to check the previous questions and answers.
